How Making is Changing Learning

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

1st Maker Space is collaborating with Central Indiana schools to bring 'maker education' to K12 learning.  We have installed 3D printers, laser cutters, electronics and sewing machines along with traditional hand tools, power tools, materials and supplies to give students a modern 'shop class' experience.  Today, a makerspace helps students understand the relevance of what they are studying to real world design challenges.  They develop better critical thinking, mathematical reasoning and problem solving skills; failure is just feedback in a makerspace. Educators get training to make use of the makerspace to reinforce their lesson plans and increase engagement.  While the concept of a makerspace may be new, the educational goals are the same.
